Since its establishment in 1973, WRFG has played a vital role in Atlanta's radio landscape. As one of the first stations to feature regional musical genres like blues, bluegrass, and jazz since the 1950s, it has filled a significant gap. Demonstrating Atlanta's status as an "international city," WRFG has also pioneered programming dedicated to the Latin, African, Asian, and Caribbean communities in the area.
